Today’s Sunday Express (20th December 2020) business section, featured an article on the subject of cyber security.

The journalist spoke to Doug Fry on the telephone and discussed the problems with working from home and security when using routers supplied by internet providers.  These routers will often still have the factory supplied passwords and these can easily be cracked by crooks hoping to gain access to computers at home.  Douglas explained that it’s crucial to change passwords when installing new routers both for the router itself and the wifi.

Piranha IT managing director Doug Fry said: “This is the year of the hack,” and pointed out many people working from home fail to change the passwords on networks or routers, making it easier for criminals.

He added: “The higher up you go the more complacent people tend to be.  At work you have IT teams to protect your network, at home all you have is a box from your provider.”
